The M.L.A. of Pathapatnam constituency is Satrucharla Vijaya Rama Raju. He served as Minister for Transport and as Minister for Forests and Environment in YS Rajasekhara Reddy's government. Name

• The name "Pathapatnam" literally means 'old town' in Telugu language.
• PATHAPATNAM village has very ancient history. It was once under the rule of Gajapati Maharajas of Orissa. Once The Gajapati kings established colony at the bank of River Mahendra Tanaya, this place is now called K.Gopalapuram and the place East side of river is called now Kotaguddi Colony. After some years the kings of Gajapathi went to Paralakhemundi and established Fort. So this place is called PATHAPATNAM in Telugu language which means 'old town' in English.

• One of the main temples is Sri Neelamani Durga Ammavaru Temple. It is a well known Temple in the surrounding madals, towns. It is very old Temple and is visited by thousands during Dussehra Navaratrulu, Sankranthi and other important festivals. Vehicles will come in large numbers to have pooja at the temple during dussehra. Pathapatnam Police are responsible to control the crowd and traffic. Festivals will be conducted every year.

• There are 3 main Shiva Temples In Pathapatnam.

• Jogishwara temple is located on the hill in pathapatnam. It is very old temple and it was built by Kings. The shiva Linga is located inside a cave on the Hill. It is visited by thousands during the sivaratri and ugadi festivals from surrounding towns and villages.
• There is a Shiridi Sai Baba Temple on one of the hills in pathapatnam. It is a famous temple in the neighbouring towns and villages. On Thursday it attracts many devotees. The scenic view of Pathapatnam and neighbouring areas from the temple is very interesting to watch.
